I am not, nor do I claim to be a canine nutritionist, if you believe there is something wrong
with your dog, take your dog to your vet and have him/her examined. It's always best to be
safe rather than sorry.
Though it is a disgusting behavior in our eyes, it's not uncommon for puppies to eat poop. Their mother did it
to keep their beds clean and and they often do it in order to absorb nutrients and bacteria from their mother's
poop when they are pups. There are many reasons dogs eat poop and probably even more reasons we don't
even realize yet.
Some dogs may be eating poop because of a physical condition that will need to be addressed, so I would
suggest a checkup at the vet would be in order to ensure the issues is not physically based.
Many dog foods are deficient in things that dogs need and dogs look to cure that deficiency by eating poop,
especially other animal's poop.
and believe it or not, some dogs just think poop tastes good!
Once you have found that your dog doesn't have a physical issue causing this, you can move on to stopping
There are many products on the market that you can get that will foul the taste of feces. A natural product
known as Prozyme can help stop the behavior and provide your dog with plenty of good stuff as well. If you
want to go with the home remedy, people have had great success with adding canned pumpkin to the dog's
meals. The pumpkin tastes good going in but it makes the poop totally undesirable as a second course. An
average sized dog you would use three table spoonse so extraplate out from there for your dog's size.
